Domestic cars of the Lada brand will begin to be assembled in foreign countries. As it became known the day before, the production of Russian models will be launched in Ethiopia in the near future. It is reported that a corresponding agreement has been reached between AvtoVAZ and Bazra Motors. The Ethiopian company will purchase vehicle kits from the Russian brand and assemble new vehicles at its own facilities.
At the initial stage, the Lada models, which will then go on sale in the Ethiopian car market, will be assembled in accordance with the SKD method. Estimated production volumes will reach 5 thousand units per year. Later, after debugging all processes, this value can be doubled.
According to the data provided by the press service of the Ethiopian Bazra Motors, the assembly of the entire current base of Russian cars - the Granta and Vesta, Niva Legend and Travel, Largus and XRay models - will be organized at the facilities of the African company.
For the Ethiopian company, such an agreement on the assembly of cars on the Russian market will not be the first. Earlier, in April of this year, Bazra Motors signed an agreement with another automaker from Russia - UAZ. In accordance with the agreements, on the territory of the same city of Kombolcha, where the Lada models will be produced, the specialists of the Ethiopian company will organize the assembly of Hunter and Patriot SUVs. In addition to cooperation with the above Russian brands, the management of Bazra Motors has a signed agreement with the KamAZ concern.
