Mercedes-Benz appears to have completed preparations for the market launch of the new eActros electric tractor unit. According to the published information, serial production of the German model will start in October. Sales of the car are likely to begin at the same time. It is known that while the German novelty will be supplied exclusively to the European market.
The eActros prototype debuted back in 2018. Moreover, his predecessor was shown 2 years earlier. The German model is positioned as an all-electric tractor designed to transport large loads over long distances. Mercedes-Benz spent several months testing the car before introducing the new eActros to the market. The pre-production prototypes of the German model covered over half a million kilometers during this period. Interestingly, Mercedes-Benz attracted its own customers to test its new product, who announced their intention to purchase an electric tractor.
eActros is equipped with two electric motors, which are integrated in the center axle, and a two-stage transmission. Each powertrain is complemented by an intelligent cooling system, which is also responsible for air conditioning in the passenger compartment. Together, both motors deliver up to 442 hp. At the same time, their maximum output can be increased to 536 hp.
Depending on the modification, the German model is equipped with batteries with an aggregate capacity of 315 or 420 kW * h. The driving range of the tractor is 300 and 400 kilometers, respectively. The maximum carrying capacity of the novelty reaches 27 tons. The batteries are complemented by an energy recovery system that recharges the batteries not only during braking, but also when slowing down.
