For the first time in history, BMW is releasing an M3 in Touring performance. The German station wagon has already been caught during test trials. Now the first renderings of the Bavarian model have appeared on the web.

Renders of the new BMW M3 Touring

Based on official images that BMW recently posted on its own website, the M3 Touring differs from the standard sports sedan only in its lengthened rear end. In front of the Bavarian novelty is the same large grille, which caused a lot of negative responses (photo: drive.com.au). From the sports sedan, the station wagon borrowed the characteristic front bumper, designed in a sporty style. It is complemented by four different-sized air intakes and a minor lip at the bottom, which is also designed to improve downforce.

It is reported that the new wagon will consume up to 10.2 liters of fuel on average (0.2 liters more than the M3 sedan). However, the manufacturer has not yet confirmed this information. The new BMW M3 Touring is rumored to have plug-in all-wheel drive, which will be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Under the hood of the Bavarian novelty, a 3-liter V6 biturbo engine will be installed. Most likely, for a station wagon, BMW engineers will not make changes to this unit. Accordingly, its maximum power will be 510 hp. with a torque of 650 N * m. Thanks to this recoil, the Bavarian station wagon will be able to accelerate to 100 km / h in about 3.6 seconds.

Note that the BMW M3 sedan is also available in rear-wheel drive version with a 480-horsepower 3-liter biturbo engine. Probably the station wagon will not receive such a modification. The new BMW M3 Touring is set to go on sale in the European market in the second half of 2022.
