The demand for compact crossovers is growing not only in Russia, but also far beyond its borders. A striking example is the Old World, where the Opel Mokka 2022 model - a competitor for Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Renault Kaptur and Mazda CX-30, demonstrates impressive sales figures. We are talking about an urban SUV, presented in variations with an internal combustion engine, as well as in an electric version. The car is sold in several trim levels with a price tag of 1,393,000 rubles for the standard version and from 2,922,000 rubles for the electrified model.
Since the Opel Mokka 2022 model in the version with an electric motor has not yet gained universal popularity, it will have to be mentioned "casually", focusing on variations with traditional internal combustion engines. The configuration, prices and overall technical characteristics of cars in the new body are not so noticeably different from most of the "classmates", and therefore, you will have to go deeper into the details, not forgetting to evaluate the appearance, which can be distinguished from the photo attached to the article.
A compact SUV from the General Motors concern in the Old World can be purchased with several power units to choose from. We are talking about diesel and gasoline units, namely:
- 1, 2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine for 100 forces;
- 1, 2-liter gasoline turbocharger engine with 130 hp;
- 1, 5-liter turbodiesel for 110 "horses".
In petrol 130-horsepower variations, an 8-speed "automatic" is used as a transmission. Turbodiesels and 100-horsepower gasoline internal combustion engines are equipped with 6-speed "mechanics". The SUV is sold with full or front wheel drive. The cross is economical and meets the requirements of the Euro-6 environmental standard in terms of the level of harmful emissions into the atmosphere. On average, for every 100 km of run in the combined cycle, the car will spend about 4.0 - 5.5 liters of fuel (diesel or AI-95 gasoline). The fuel tank of the SUV is designed for 48 liters, which provides a good range. All electric versions are equipped with a 100 kW or 136 horsepower electric motor and a battery that provides a range of 355 km.
In terms of size, this is a standard model for its class, reaching 4,151 mm in length, 1,791 mm in width, and 1,531 mm in height. The wheelbase of the SUV is 2,557 mm. The curb weight of the car directly depends on the selected internal combustion engine, the type of drive and the installed transmission (varies in the range from 1 270 to 1 295 kg). The five-seater crossover received a luggage compartment with a capacity of 350 liters. With the rear seats folded down, the volume increases to 1,105 liters.
Options and prices
Almost all configurations of the Opel Mokka 2022 car are customizable and can be expanded through special stages. Prices for cars in the "base" start at 1,393,000 rubles. The following configurations are on sale: Base, Edition, Elegance, GS Line and Ultimate. The price tag is strongly influenced by the chosen motor, as well as the actual number of "special stages" chosen by the future owner.
As mentioned earlier, the prices for the SUV in the "base" start from a price tag of 1,393,000 rubles in Russian currency. For this money, you can buy a car with a 1.2-liter 100-horsepower engine with the following equipment:
- stamped wheels 17 inches;
- electric power steering;
- air conditioner;
- heated and electrically operated exterior mirrors;
- front "foglights";
- power windows front and rear;
- front seats with mechanical adjustment;
- speaker system for 4 speakers;
- multimedia with a large touch screen;
- front and side airbags;
- central locking;
- rear parking radars.
Most of the other options are available as special stages. It is also worth mentioning that the equipment of the Opel Mokka 2022 in the "base" already includes many systems responsible for safety and traffic control.
In this case, it is worthwhile to go straight to the top-end variation of the car, because without special stages, the difference between the complete sets in terms of equipment is not as significant as in most of the classmates. In this modification, only a 130-horsepower gasoline engine or a turbodiesel is put on the model. The equipment of the SUV additionally includes such options as: a digital dashboard of 12, 3 inches, a 10-inch touchscreen of the multimedia system, acoustics for 8 speakers, front parking sensors, front and rear view cameras, keyless entry, heated front and rear seats, and also many other options. It is worth noting that in this configuration the car will cost the buyer almost 1, 1 million rubles more. The electric models are available in Edition, Elegance, GS Line and Ultimate variations, and in terms of equipment they hardly differ from standard cars with internal combustion engines.
The German SUV Opel Mokka, despite its compact dimensions, boasts excellent safety. This high-tech, state-of-the-art model did an excellent job of EuroNCAP testing with an overall rating of five stars. Recall that here the car is evaluated in four main areas. In particular, we are talking about the safety of the driver and adult passengers - an estimate of 96%. Protection of passengers-children - 90%. Pedestrian vulnerability - 82%. Equipping the car with security systems - 98%. The performance of the model is impressive, since in this regard, the SUV has clearly surpassed almost all of its "classmates" with a similar price.
Handling and off-road performance
The small urban SUV Opel Mokka 2022 is a success among motorists in the Old World, largely due to its versatility. The model is perfect for use in the city, as well as for operation outside of it. Here it is only important to choose the correct type of drive and the option of the power unit. On the road, Mokka behaves confidently, despite its mass. The car is responsive to steering and also impresses with its agility. Outside the city, it is better to consider an all-wheel drive SUV. This will allow you to feel comfortable not only on rough terrain and on dirt roads, but also on certain off-road sections, where there are no significant obstacles on the way.
Advantages and disadvantages
If we consider the main pros and cons of the "German", then first of all it is necessary to highlight its driving characteristics. Whatever you say, but in this regard, the subcompact cross is superior to most competitors. Also, without fail, the pluses include the amount of free space in the cabin. Although the model has a capacious 350-liter trunk, five adults can comfortably fit inside without any problems. The last thing that should definitely be attributed to the advantages is a variety of trim levels, modifications and the ability to retrofit any car with "dopas" before buying.
Unfortunately, many modern manufacturers do not allow this, offering only final configurations. This is not to say that this SUV is good in everything. It has its drawbacks, and the main one is the build quality. In comparison with other German brands, Opel cannot offer potential buyers really reliable cars that will not cause problems to the owner during operation.
The new Mokka is a stylish compact model, more focused on young owners and women. The SUV turned out to be elegant and overly feminine in places. At the same time, individual sporty lines and aggressive elements can be distinguished. In general, the design of the car looks impressive and attractive, however, there is a feeling of understatement.
Inside, the car has even more sporting highlights. The SUV received a combined dark interior with spectacular bright accents. It is also worth highlighting the abundance of high-tech elements and practical layout. The interior of the model will certainly appeal to motorists who are looking for an ultramodern and comfortable vehicle with subcompact dimensions for a comfortable ride in urban conditions.
It is worth recalling that Opel Mokka is not sold on the Russian automotive market. From here the model left back in 2015. Now SUV sales are focused on the territory of Europe, where the model in the current generation appeared in 2021.
The direct rivals of the "German" in the automotive market are:
- Hyundai Creta;
- Kia Seltos;
- Mazda CX-30;
- Renault Kaptur.
