The new crossover, which Japanese manufacturer Toyota is preparing for release, has been officially announced. This is a model that will be named Frontlander. As it became known, the premiere show of the cross will take place in November. At the moment, the design and performance of the car can be judged solely on the basis of the first teasers, which were published by the Japanese manufacturer.
Official teasers of the novelty
Curiously, a completely new cross was far from a novelty, since in some countries the car is already on sale, but only under a different name. Judging by the teasers, the new Frontlander will be similar to its recent debut, the Corolla Cross SUV. This car is based on the GA-C architecture. It also relies on the classic Corolla sedan.
As you know, the Corolla Cross SUV was first demonstrated about a year ago. And already at the beginning of 2021, it was launched on sale. Based on the fact that the same model will appear under a different name, it can be concluded that the Corolla Cross will not be available in some car markets. At the same time, parallel sales of both machines cannot be ruled out. In particular, in the Chinese market, a similar situation is developing with Wildlander and Crown Kluger, together with which their original versions - RAV4 and Highlander - are sold.
Returning to the Frontlander, we can assume that its dimensions, as well as interior decoration, will be almost identical to the base Corolla Cross. It is too early to talk about how close the power capabilities of the two models will be. It is known that the production of a SUV is organized in China. It is planned to be shown during the Guangzhou Auto Show in November this year.
