Volkswagen has been banking on budget crossovers in recent years. This is probably due to the success of the T-Roc model, on the basis of which, in fact, 2 SUVs have already been created: Taigun and Taos. Volkswagen has confirmed that this crossover will soon undergo dramatic changes as part of the planned generational change. However, the current generation model came out relatively recently. Therefore, the manufacturer decided to carry out its planned restyling.
Restyled Volkswagen T-Roc
Photos of the updated Volkswagen T-Roc appeared on the web, which fully reveal the appearance of the car (photo: motor1.com). Thanks to the next modernization, the manufacturer will be able to keep the current generation of the crossover on the market for at least 3 more years. The published images show the updated T-Roc performed by the R-Line. That is, Volkswagen is upgrading all versions of the German crossover. Previously, pictures appeared on the Web with the updated T-Roc in R-modification and a convertible version with a soft top. Moreover, in each case, the German model was deprived of protective camouflage.
The T-Roc performed by the R-Line is slightly different from the previously caught versions. The crossover in this modification is distinguished by the appearance of a special nameplate on the tailgate and additional devices that are installed on each wheel. The latter indirectly indicate that Volkswagen engineers are currently testing the braking system of the updated crossover. It also indicates that the R-Line T-Roc will be more dynamic than other versions.
As it became known earlier, the German model will change slightly as part of the planned restyling. In particular, Volkswagen engineers will correct the shape of the head and rear optics, while retaining the familiar architecture. The radiator grill will also undergo modifications. But changes in this part of the body will be subtle. The front bumper will undergo a more extensive modernization. It will be replenished with an enlarged air intake of the original configuration, along which, like the enlarged side vents, thin horizontal slats run. The aft bumper, apparently, will also undergo a series of improvements. At the rear, the T-Roc has a new diffuser with glossy black trims. And the tailpipe is now positioned lower than the current version of the crossover.
According to rumors, the technical part of the German model will remain the same. Recall that the role of the base unit in the T-Roc is played by a liter turbocharged engine that develops up to 115 hp. useful power. For a surcharge, supercharged motors of 1, 5 and 2 liters are also available to customers. They produce up to 150 and 190 hp respectively. The engine range also includes turbodiesels with 1, 6 and 2 liters. Their declared power reaches 115-190 hp. depending on modification. The standard crossover is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. In more expensive versions, a 7-band "robot" is used.
Actual model
Despite the fact that the first pre-production copy of the updated T-Roc hit the road in mid-summer, Volkswagen has not yet made any comments on the restyled version of its model. So, the manufacturer does not announce a specific date for the debut of the crossover. According to rumors, sales of the updated Volkswagen T-Roc in Europe will start in the spring of 2022. Moreover, the manufacturer will immediately bring to the market all versions of the crossover, including the R-Line modification. However, the R version will not be available until next fall. Recall that Volkswagen does not officially supply T-Roc to Russia. In our country, the cheapest crossover of the German brand is Taos.
