KamAZ stands out against the background of other Russian manufacturers of large-sized and specialized equipment by the fact that the company periodically moves away from its main activity and "looks" towards non-standard products for itself. This behavior, for example, was recently shown in the compact electric car "Kama-1", the concept of which was presented at the beginning of the year. KamAZ provided financial support to the developers of this vehicle.
In connection with the foregoing, it is not surprising that renders of the second crossover of the Russian brand, KamAZ-43118 2021-2022, appeared on the Web. This model is also characterized by compact dimensions: its length probably does not exceed 4300 mm. But despite this feature, the car interior should be quite spacious. The fact is that the compact size of the presented model is partly due to the short front and rear overhangs. The wheelbase of the novelty should reach 2400 mm.
In addition to its small size, the Russian model stands out for several notable design solutions. First of all, it is a voluminous body with compact side glazing. Against its background, the windshield looks huge, because of which the A-pillars were heavily overwhelmed back. The novelty is equipped with a shortened hood, which quite abruptly turns into a large head optics with LED lights inside. It is visually combined with a radiator grille, which is almost completely covered by wide horizontal strips.
The latter decision makes KamAZ-43118 2021-2022 somewhat similar to the Volkswagen model. The similarity with German cars is also emphasized by the front bumper with an elongated central air intake, on the sides of which there are niches with a protruding edge, inside which fog lights are located. At the stern of the Russian model, there is a compact glazing. But the taillights were also comparatively large. The stern bumper is complemented by a plastic trim, through which 4 exhaust pipes exit at once. However, most likely 3 of them are imitations.
Despite the fact that the presented KAMAZ crossover is still only a concept, certain questions arise about the technical part of the car. In particular, it is not yet clear on what platform such a model can be built, since the Kama Automobile Plant does not have its own architecture suitable for such SUVs. To launch this crossover into production, KamAZ can turn to its partner Daimler AG for help and borrow a "cart" from the compact Mercedes-Benz GLA. Thanks to this, the presented model will receive a 1.3-liter turbo engine with a maximum output of 150 hp. It should be noted that this unit is already being installed on Renault Duster and Kaptur. That is, there will be no problems with the localization of its production.
