KamAZ is known not only for its tractors or special equipment. There was a period in the history of the Kama Automobile Plant when it produced the Oka compact passenger car. And recently, KamAZ began to support the project to create a small electric car "Kama-1". That is, the Kamsky Automobile Plant often deviates from its current activities and enters those market segments in which it was not previously represented.
In Ukraine today, in fact, an analogue of KamAZ is still operating - the KrAZ company. However, the Kremenchug Automobile Plant has been in an extremely difficult financial situation over the past few years, which may lead to its bankruptcy. To get out of this situation, the company needs a new product that can quickly bring in large enough profits. An inexpensive SUV could become such a development. Moreover, the independent designer has already shown how the new KrAZ-255 2021-2022 crossover might look like. He presented a series of renderings revealing his appearance.
The presented model is compact in size. This indirectly indicates that this new product will be presented in the segment where Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos are competing today. The KrAZ crossover is likely to receive a plug-in four-wheel drive, which it can borrow from Renault Arkana. The choice in favor of the French brand in this case is due to the fact that it intends to gain a foothold in the Ukrainian market and cooperation with KrAZ can help in this.
If the above information turns out to be valid, then the first crossover of the Kremenchug Automobile Plant will receive both a platform and a 1.33-liter turbocharged Renault engine. The maximum output of this unit reaches 150 hp. That is, the presented novelty will be more passable than its direct competitors. This is evidenced by the high ground clearance and the wide plastic body kit that runs along the bottom.
Also, the KrAZ-255 2021-2022 crossover stands out against the background of competitors with a somewhat non-standard appearance. The front end of the body looks like it was borrowed from a sedan from the early 2000s and stretched upwards. As a result, this led to the appearance of four wide air intakes at once, inside of which a relatively narrow mesh is located. The feed of the presented novelty in many respects repeats the outlines of most modern budget class crossovers.
