In modern realities, given the constant rise in fuel prices, motorists strive to save money and, if possible, reduce fuel consumption by all available methods. Sometimes this comes to the point of absurdity. For example, when driving on a slope, a motorist can put the gearbox in neutral, believing that at this moment the car will stop consuming fuel. According to experts, this kind of manipulation can lead to negative consequences.

Coasting can be called a dangerous activity. This is especially true for unfamiliar sections of public roads. When driving in neutral, in the event of an emergency, when a lightning-fast reaction is required, the driver can simply get confused and direct the car to the roadside embankment, and not in the right direction. It is worth noting that such driving is considered dangerous not only for old cars, but also for modern cars, which are equipped with an ABS system.

If at some point the system fails and one of the wheels is blocked, then returning the car to its previous course will already be very problematic. Only experienced drivers can cope with such a task. Driving downhill in neutral is the greatest danger for powerful modern cars. Driving such a car, you can simply not calculate the trajectory at the time of the turn and, as a result, fly off the track.

It is worth recalling that to correct the maneuver on any car, regardless of the type of drive, it is necessary to engage the gear and work with the gas pedal. All this is impossible to do when the neutral is stuck. Separately, it should be mentioned that driving in neutral does not reduce fuel consumption in any way. On the contrary, on cars with an injector at this moment, fuel consumption increases than in the case when the driver simply takes his foot off the gas.
