The long-awaited novelty has come to the official dealers - the GAZelle Next with a turbocharged diesel engine manufactured by Volkswagen with the EA189 marker. This became known after the statement of the company "Luidor", which is currently the leader among dealers representing the Gorky plant.

It is worth saying that this message about the start of sales of GAZelle Next to the household network is not the first. At the end of 2018, the appearance of a new item was already announced. Dealers even demonstrated several samples brought in for demonstration, but it never came to sales.

It is known that a GAZelle Next with a new engine from the Germans can be bought from the assembly line for 1, 145 million rubles. This amount includes a three-seat cab and a "bare chassis". Note that the same amount will cost the old version familiar to Russian users with a 2.8-liter engine producing almost 150 hp, combined with a classic 5-speed manual gearbox. According to the employees of "Luidor", the novelty with a VW engine is still offered at a discount of 190 thousand rubles, which means that the real price of the novelty is 1, 335 thousand rubles. In addition, company representatives emphasize the limited supply. At the moment, there are only 30 assembled GAZelle Next with a new engine in their parking lot.

As a result, after contacting the plant to receive official comments, it became clear that 30 submitted copies are the entire limited batch. GAZ Group explained that this batch was built to test the technology. It cannot be called a serial batch, and the release of new models by the end of this year is not envisaged.

Experts call the main reason for the refusal of serial production - the American sanctions. Most of the partners are afraid to enter into cooperation with GAZ, fearing pressure from outside, therefore, joining the union is constantly postponed.

At the same time, the employees stressed that the German engine did not allow the installation of a refrigerated van, as well as an air conditioner, which reduces the likelihood of further production of the model in this modification.

The available 136-horsepower engine was equipped with a special urea injection system, which made it possible to reduce the environmental standard to Euro-6 (in the Russian Federation, as before, the car complies with the Euro-5 standard). OTTS for production was received in October last year. Based on the text of the document, they plan to arrange delivery to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Belarus.
