What to do if there is no money for a new car, but you want to drive comfortably? In this case, the experts have prepared four ways to increase the clearance. Note that they are all very harmless and do not require large financial investments.
Most models have an average ground clearance of 13 to 18 centimeters. But, as they say, the appetite comes with eating, so car owners always want to increase the ground clearance, which is not surprising given the state of Russian roads. The realities are such that there are nine kilometers of off-road and remnants of "former Soviet luxury" for one kilometer of a flat road.
The most effective way is to replace the springs. Manufacturers offer modern components designed specifically for adjusting the clearance height. Some are able to underestimate the car, others, on the contrary, make it higher and more practical. Special springs are characterized by increased rigidity and a thick rod. With the help of them, you can add a few centimeters to the car. By the way, you can choose the height yourself, since the choice of springs is quite large. True, you will have to spend additional money on improving the shock absorbers so that in the future there will be no problems with safety and control.
There is an even easier way - buying high profile tires. But, at the same time, the driver does not have the opportunity to choose the height. The maximum you can win is 1-2 centimeters. There are also negative sides to this method - odometer and speedometer readings go astray. Not all drivers agree to such an exchange, so the method has not become widespread.
Spacers are a fairly simple method that does not require special skills and knowledge. Rubber washers are placed under the springs, the height of which determines the increase in clearance. Ease of installation allows you to periodically change the washers by adjusting the ride height. To make the effect brighter and more noticeable, it is advisable to replace the standard spring with an improved new one.
Another not tricky way is buffers. They are silicone rings that are attached between the coils of the spring with ties. For installation, you will need buffers, which are commercially available, ties and a jack. It is enough to lift the wheel and attach the ring. It will not allow the spring to compress, which means that the clearance will increase.
