Recently, in Russia, traffic cameras began to record drivers who drive with an unfastened seat belt. But, as it happened before, the functionality of the devices turned out to be unfinished. Information appeared on the Web from drivers whose clothing color merged with the shade of a seat belt. As a result, they began to receive fines for traffic violations.

As noted by users, the main reason why the sanctions were applied against them is that the traffic camera displays the picture in pink. As conceived by the developers, this is done to increase the contrast of the image so that the system can more accurately make out what is captured in the picture. However, due to this feature, road cameras do not "see" the seat belt thrown over the driver. Moreover, fines are issued even if the shade of clothing contrasts with this element.

Thus, according to the publications of the drivers, the sanctions were applied to persons who were wearing marsh and dark gray jackets. Due to the specified feature of the road cameras, the seat belt merges with the tone of the clothes. The drivers have already applied to the traffic police to challenge the issued fines.

Note that cameras fixing an unfastened seat belt are still operating in Moscow. In total, 8 such devices have been installed in the capital. The first cameras started working only in December last year. To date, they have recorded about 4, 2 thousand cases of driving with an unfastened seat belt. The traffic police intends to increase the number of road cameras with this functionality in the coming months. And over time, they will begin to be installed in the regions.
