Honda has previously abandoned the development of the Acura NSX supercar. But, perhaps, this decision will be revised in the coming years. However, Honda will definitely not return this model in a classic form. In favor of the assumptions made, the statement of one of the top managers of Acura speaks.

He recalled that the first version of the NSX was equipped with fuel-powered engines. The second version of the Japanese model came out with a hybrid setup. A top executive said there will be another generation of the Acura NSX. But he did not specify any information about the features of the future model. At the same time, the appearance of an electric Acura NSX is more likely.

This assumption is supported by the current development strategy of parent company Honda. The Japanese manufacturer is currently actively working on converting all produced cars to electricity. Therefore, it is more likely that the future Acura NSX will come out with electric motors, and not with a hybrid installation based on an internal combustion engine.

Most likely, the appearance of the third generation of the Japanese supercar will have to wait for a very long time. The fact is that between the departure of the first generation Acura NSX from the market and the release of the next version, about 11 years have passed (2005 and 2016, respectively). Honda noted that the latest generation of the supercar was not financially successful. However, the car helped the engineers understand other things necessary for the development of the entire lineup. In particular, the developers figured out how to create an electric car capable of delivering driving comfort.

Note that the Acura company does not produce electric cars yet. The first model to be equipped with only electric motors will be the production version of the Honda Prologue concept. This car will appear no earlier than in 3 years.
