Honda has released a teaser image of the 7-seat Acura MDX crossover, which is, in fact, a deeply redesigned version of the Pilot. Both models are built on the same platform and share the technical part. Acura MDX after the change of generations, while retaining its recognizable appearance, acquired a completely different appearance. Judging by the previously published renders and current teasers, the body of the car will be sharper due to the many angular details.
According to the representatives of the Japanese brand, Acura MDX has gone through a radical change in appearance. The crossover's polygonal radiator grille, like the head optics with LED filling, has become noticeably narrower. Because of this, the front bumper has grown in size, which, as it moves towards the wheel fenders, bends inward and ends near the elongated air vents. Below, under a kind of visor, there is a long air intake with built-in fog lamps, the perimeter of which is decorated with a metal bar.
The design of the side section of the body has undergone less noticeable changes. The same can be said for the stern. However, it is too early to talk about the rear end of the body, since all the images revealing it were preliminary.
Apparently, the new Acura MDX will borrow from its predecessor the same 3.5-liter "naturally aspirated" engine, the maximum output of which reaches 290 hp. Moreover, the power indicator after modernization can be increased. Complete with this engine, they will offer a proprietary 10-speed automatic transmission. Probably, the car will also receive a plug-in four-wheel drive.
The new Acura MDX will be officially unveiled on December 8th. At the same time, the manufacturer announced that the Type S modification will debut in the middle of next year. True, it is not yet precisely confirmed whether the specified date is the presentation date of the "charged" version of the crossover or the time it will enter the market. The Type S Acura MDX is expected to receive a 3.0-liter turbocharged engine that develops up to 355 hp. power. It will be combined with the same gearbox.
