Honda's premium car brand Acura has begun production of the next generation of its flagship MDX crossover at the East Liberty Auto plant in Ohio. Not far from it, at another enterprise of the company, 3.5-liter V6 engines for the same SUV are being assembled.

Tom Nguyen, the brand's global development leader, referred to the new generation MDX as the flagship vehicle of the entire Acura brand, and the company has done everything to bring the crossover to a higher level than before. “This has enabled a true revolution in the automotive industry that will spark passion, excitement and emotion in MDX owners,” said Tom Nguyen about the SUV.

Designed from the ground up and backed by a light truck platform, the all-new fourth-generation Acura MDX crossover will begin arriving at official dealerships from February 2nd. Prices for the new product in the United States will start at 3.4 million rubles for the basic configuration with front-wheel drive, while the Technology Package variation is estimated at 3.8 million rubles. All-wheel drive versions of the model will cost from 3.6 million rubles to 4.4 million rubles.

At first, power will be transmitted to the wheels exclusively from the 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine producing 290 hp. and 362 N * m of torque. This unit is mated to a ten-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive. Acura's proprietary Torque Vectoring SH-AWD all-wheel drive transmission is available as an option.

The MDX lineup will be expanded in the summer with the introduction of a special S version, which is marketed as sporty. Its main distinguishing feature will be a new 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine with 355 hp. and 480 N * m of torque. Also, this version will be equipped with an improved braking system, large wheels and a sports steering wheel.
