The French company Citroen is preparing to launch a line of budget and not quite typical cars, which will be sold in emerging markets and, in particular, in India. First, the production and distribution of the C5 Aircross was established in this country. But, apparently, the developer's business went uphill, since the next model for this market should be the Citroen C3 in 2022. Despite the similar name to the car that is available in European countries, the manufacturer says the cars will have nothing in common. And despite the fact that this car will not be presented in the Old World, it is tested here. This is evidenced by the latest "spy" photos published on the web.
Current Citroen C3
The car was captured during the day during tests on public roads. It is still covered in camouflage, but its camouflage no longer has additional bezels and other elements to hide its distinctive features. Based on these images, a large number of various renders of the future model have already appeared on the Web, which to one degree or another reveal its appearance.
New Citroen C3
In the company's lineup, this car will be one step lower than the C5 Aircross, which means that it will have a lower price tag. Other B-segment crossovers will compete for it. The C3 is built on the Stellantis CMP platform, which is known to include an electrified powertrain on board. However, in order to keep the price of the car attractive to local buyers, it is likely that the manufacturer will only offer versions with internal combustion engines. Auto experts say that under the hood of the novelty will be installed a 1.2-liter gasoline engine of the PureTech series, which interacts not only with a manual, but also with an automatic transmission. Power will in any case be transmitted to the front axle.

The model, known internally as the C21, will officially debut at the end of this year. In the local market (India) in terms of size and direction, the cross will compete with Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. That is, the French novelty will cost less than 600 thousand rubles.
