So, finally, this event has come to pass, Citroen has officially unveiled its new flagship car, which will compete with the Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5-Series and Audi A6. But it is worth noting that this model, called the C5 X, in contrast to the "Germans", which are available in sedan and station wagon versions, is a mixture of these bodies with the addition of some elements of the crossover.

Due to its unusual body configuration, the new Citroen C5 X turned out to be even larger than all other models of the French brand. The relatively flat roofline of this car suggests it is a sedan, the lengthened rear end creates a station wagon effect, and the high ground clearance reminds us of a full-fledged C5 Aircross crossover. However, the model turned out to be smaller than its German competitors. So, the dimensions of its body are 4805x1865x1485 mm (length, width and height, respectively). The luggage compartment of the Citroen C5 X reaches 545 liters. But this figure can be increased to 1640 liters if the back of the rear row of seats is folded into a flat floor.

It is worth noting that the quirky appearance of the new Citroen flagship, as expected, resembles the 2016 Cxperience concept, but the novelty has received all the modern technologies that are available to the car brand from France. The model has a 12-inch multimedia touchscreen display, as well as a large head-up display with augmented reality support. In addition, a fully digital “tidy” is installed on board, as well as a number of physical keys for climate control.

The model will be equipped with a variety of gasoline engines. But during the presentation, the manufacturer singled out a hybrid power plant with a capacity of 225 hp. and a range of over 50 km in all-electric mode. In addition, the electric motor is capable of accelerating the car up to 135 km / h.

As previously expected, the new C5 X will be sold with Citroen's patented Advanced Comfort suspension. The French manufacturer says the system's progressive hydraulic cushions, combined with comfortable seats, will provide an ultra-comfortable ride, even on uneven surfaces. In Europe, this model will go on sale in the second half of this year.
