The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is still in the testing phase. Apparently, the most interesting phase of testing is now underway. The American muscle car was spotted in Germany on the northern loop of the once most dangerous race track in the world - the Nürburgring.

Let this not surprise you, because this track has such a cult status that no self-respecting automaker will release a new model on sale until it knows how long it will take to pass the northern loop. The developers announced the upcoming test of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 back in August, and now, finally, it happened.

The Z06 is rumored to be another version of the C8. R race car. Under the hood, it is believed to be a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 with dual overhead camshafts and a flat crankshaft. Its power is reported to be around 617 horsepower. Tremec gearbox, presumably in a magnesium case. And judging by the video filmed during the tests, the gears can be switched very quickly.
The Z06 has a more aggressive body with a larger front splitter. The holes in the rear fenders are even larger than on a standard Corvette (photo: motor1.com). At the stern, four exhaust pipes extend from the center of the tail. We haven't had time to look inside the Z06 yet. Given that the car is focused on performance, you can safely expect bolstered seats and possibly sporty finishes such as polished metal or carbon fiber.
There are indications that Chevy is offering an optional performance package for the Z06, which will include elements such as a large fender, sticky tires, and perhaps a few more details that might not be easy to spot. Some cars during testing do not have these components at all. The Z06 will be officially launched on October 26, 2021, but will only go on sale as a 2023 model. This suggests hitting dealerships in mid-2022.
