If the BMW 1-Series and Audi A1 do not provide sufficient comfort, then the 2020 Citroen DS4 is worth paying attention to. The French hatchback differs from the German models in two important qualities: an affordable price and a comfortable interior. For the latter, the ergonomic layout of the interior space and the thoughtful configuration of the front seats are responsible. However, this is not the only thing that attracts the DS4. The French model comes with three turbo engines, one of which runs on diesel. Included with them, the buyer receives modern electronics, which are usually installed on premium cars, and an extended security complex. And for a surcharge, high-quality acoustics and a number of other attractive options are provided.
Options and prices
This is not to say that the 2020 Citroen DS4 really came out in a new body. The French model went through a planned restyling, which, as evidenced by the published photos, practically did not affect her appearance. Citroen did not make any changes to the configuration, and therefore the prices for the car remained at the same level. And the demand for a hatchback in the European market forced the manufacturer to keep its previous technical characteristics. However, the attractiveness of the French model is provided by the original body design and thoughtful interior.
Be chic
The 2020 Citroen DS4 is estimated at a minimum of 1.712 million rubles. This amount includes a starting petrol turbo engine for 1.6 liters. By paying about 137 thousand rubles, the buyer will receive a turbocharged diesel unit of the same volume. Versions with a two-tone body will cost a little more. Available as standard with the French model:
- exterior mirrors with heating and electric drive, which automatically folds them;
- incomplete spare wheel;
- self-dimming salon mirror;
- 7-inch touchscreen monitor;
- climate system serving 2 zones;
- steering electronic amplifier;
- 17-inch aluminum wheel rims;
- parking brake with electronic control;
- head optics with light sensor;
- windscreen wipers with rain sensor.
Interestingly, the DS4 comes with a six-speaker audio system. An optional 8 speakers, a subwoofer and an equalizer with amplifier are offered. In the starting modification, by default, there is also a multifunctional steering wheel with adjustments in two directions, full LED headlights and front seats with developed lumbar support and heating.
The safety complex of the French model, in addition to six airbags, is made up of systems that:
- prevent blocking of brakes by redistributing force;
- help with braking;
- control "blind" zones and directional stability;
- help with parking (optional);
- monitor the level of pressure in the wheels;
- keep the given speed limit.
Due to the fact that the DS4 has "blank" windows at the rear, the car is equipped only with front power windows. In the initial version of the French model, you can find a two-zone climate control system. For a surcharge, buyers are available with seats with a combined trim, a navigation module and a parking camera.
Crossback
The 2020 Citroen DS4 Crossback is only available with a 2-liter turbo diesel engine. Such a modification costs 2, 174 million rubles. In addition to the standard equipment, this amount includes roof rails, seats with combined trim, an outlet and rear parking sensors. It is noteworthy that buyers will not be able to purchase a hatchback in a top-end modification and in a two-tone body. But optionally, this version is supplied with an electric driver's seat, a keyless door opening system and seats with artificial leather trim.

Specifications
Despite being overpriced, the 2020 Citroen DS4 is based on a relatively simple base, with MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion bar with spring dampers at the rear. At the same time, the manufacturer reconfigured the hatchback suspension, making it more rigid, and brought the ground clearance to 170 mm.
All versions of the DS4 have only a 6-speed automatic transmission, which transfers all traction to the front wheels. In the starter versions, a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine is placed under the hood of the car. Its maximum output does not exceed 150 hp. (artificially limited), and the torque reaches 240 N * m. With this combination, the French hatchback breaks the mark in the first 100 km / h in 8.6 seconds. The average fuel consumption indicator is 7, 7 liters.
For a surcharge, a turbocharged diesel engine of the same volume is offered. The maximum power of this unit reaches 120 HP, and the thrust level is 300 N * m. This combination enables the car to accelerate to 100 km / h in 11.4 seconds with an average fuel consumption of 3.9 liters.
At the top of the engine range is a two-liter turbodiesel unit with a maximum output reaching 180 hp. Its torque is 400 N * m. This design allows you to accelerate to 100 km / h in 8.6 seconds. Average fuel consumption is 4.3 liters.
Design
One of the eye-catching features of the DS4 is its distinctive exterior and interior design. The body of the French model is executed in the form of lines smoothly flowing into each other and several pronounced stampings that adorn the side doors and the hood. The head optics with LED filling have an original architecture. A relatively large grille with a fine mesh hangs over a massive (at least for this hatchback) front bumper with two oval fog lights.
The rear of the DS4 is like an extension of the roof. Its rounded shape is complemented by large headlights, which "come" from the stampings on the rear wheel arches. The bumper is complemented by side protrusions that act as decorative elements. It also has exhaust pipes connected by a metal bar.
Another feature of the French hatchback is hidden in the cabin. The interior of the vehicle features excellently designed seating for maximum comfort. The DS4's onboard electronics are small. However, this decision allowed the manufacturer to improve the ergonomics of the cabin. The compact size of the car did not affect the convenience of accommodating passengers in the back row of seats.
Time to market
The updated version of DS4 is now available from official Russian Citroen dealers. The car is delivered from France.
