GAC published a series of teaser images a few days ago with the new GS8 dubbed the "killer" Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Those pictures only gave a general idea of the Chinese model. But now the GAC has provided some images that reveal the new GS8 in more detail.
Judging by these pictures, the Chinese model will be designed in an original and somewhat angular style. Choosing this design makes the GAC GS8 look like last year's Infiniti QX80 Monograph concept. The Chinese model, like the Japanese one, is equipped with a massive radiator grille, which protrudes slightly forward. But for the GAC GS8, it has a completely different pattern, presented in the form of short slats that are located at an angle. Also, the Chinese novelty has received a "sculptural" front bumper with many sharp transitions and fairly wide side air intakes.
Head optics stand out with no less remarkable design. The headlights of the Chinese novelty are presented in the form of a thin block of LED lights that runs along the edge of the hood. A wide "branch" with additional LED strips extends downward from it. The rear part of the body, which runs almost vertically in relation to the roadway, also differs in textured outlines.
The GAC has not yet released an exact date for the launch of the new GS8. The details of the interior of the Chinese crossover are also unknown. But the media reports that after the modernization of the GAC GS8 will receive a hybrid installation based on a 2-liter turbocharged engine. The maximum power of this unit is not announced, and its torque reaches 400 N * m. Complete with this installation, they will offer four-wheel drive and an automatic transmission with 8 speeds.
