The launch of the new Ford Maverick is getting closer. The compact truck has already begun to roll off the assembly line, and the new product should reach car dealerships in a few weeks. And it looks like the car enthusiasts looking forward to this day have yet another reason to cheer, as Ford has announced one very nice and significant detail.
The fact is that the automaker intends to make the all-wheel drive system a standard for all versions of the Ford Maverick, equipped with a drive for towing. But the most important thing is that you don't have to pay for it. In a bulletin sent to car dealerships, Ford is asking its retailers to change the specification and reorder all FWD towing kit units to have AWD as standard equipment. In this case, the manufacturer covers the full cost of AWD (MSRP $ 2,220 or 162,000 rubles).
“As a result of recent engineering and operational evaluations, it has been decided to remove the FWD Gas and 4K (53Q) tow package combination from the 22MY Maverick offering across all series. Since mid-August, it has been dropped from dealer orders through WBDO and CONCEPS. Therefore new orders with this combination have been canceled,”says the Ford dealer newsletter.
According to the available information, dealers are offered three options. The first is to place a new order for the inclusion of all-wheel drive. Whereas alternatively, the towing kit can be removed if the truck is to come with front wheel drive. Of course, dealers can also cancel the order entirely if this new specification does not meet their needs.
As a reminder, the 2022 Maverick has a starting price of $ 19,995 without options (RUB1.46m), making it a more affordable product than the Ford Model T. All trim levels feature a 2.5-liter hybrid as standard. engine with a capacity of 191 hp. A 2.0-liter EcoBoost unit is optionally available, producing 250 hp.
