There is every reason to believe that the new Maverick is the first truly compact pickup in decades. With a body length of just over five meters, this is the smallest Ford truck in many years. The company took a really bold step by unveiling the model earlier this year.

First, basic versions come with a hybrid powertrain by default. Not only that, Ford is aiming for 5.8L / 100km for the battery-powered model. Unfortunately, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has not yet been able to assess this bold statement from the manufacturer. However, they already have official data on a non-hybrid version of the EcoBoost compact pickup.

But before that, it's worth giving a quick overview of the characteristics of the Maverick EcoBoost drivetrain. Its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivers 250 horsepower and 376 Nm of torque. There is no manual transmission, only an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is available as an option for the 2.0 EcoBoost. The hybrid is front-wheel drive only.

So what is the Maverick EcoBoost rating? According to the EPA, city fuel consumption is one gallon per 23 miles, or 30 miles for the front-wheel drive version. The Maverick EcoBoost all-wheel drive has a combined mileage of 26 mpg, according to the agency. When it comes to all-wheel drive, the city is 22 mpg, the highway 29 mpg. As a reminder, one gallon is equal to 3.78 liters. Note that this indicator is very economical for the model of this segment, because even some "cars" (for example, Hyundai Solaris) cannot boast of such an "appetite". Of course, in the real world, the results will be different, but most likely they will not differ much from the state ratings.
