The 2022 model year promises to be quite exciting for Ford Expedition fans. The SUV will be significantly updated and even get some completely exclusive features. One of the modifications will be called Expedition Timberline, and new photos have appeared on the web, which show that the development of this model is almost complete.

Spies with cameras, ready to sit for days in anticipation of secret cars, hit the jackpot this time by filming the 2022 Expedition Timberline from all sides. But the best part is that this time the car went onto public roads with almost no protective camouflage (photo: motor1.com). By and large, there are no surprises left except for the front bumper and the tailgate. We now know what almost all the exterior elements of this American SUV will look like. Let's compare what sets this prototype apart from those we saw earlier.

Prototype of the new Expedition Timberline

The first thing that catches your eye is the fully open headlights. This isn't often seen, but the Expedition Timberline prototype shows off the face of the car in all its glory. Of course, it cannot be said that these are completely new headlights when compared to the 2021 model, but the shape has changed noticeably. But the turn signals have been completely redone. There are now three small yellow stripes on each side.

An uncovered Timberline logo is placed directly below the redesigned headlights in the center of the front bumper. This is very similar to what we saw on the Explorer Timberline. However, the orange tow hooks are located slightly lower on the bumper. From the photos, the Expedition Timberline is likely to get a little taller, which means we can confidently expect a suspension upgrade.

Under the hood, one should hardly expect any significant changes. Most likely the manufacturer will install the familiar 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. Although the Timberline version might try to squeeze out a little more power out of it than the standard 375 or 400 horsepower. In addition, we very much hope that Timberline will inherit the hybrid powertrain from the F-150 for model year 2022.
