About a year ago, information was leaked to the American media that Ford Motor was preparing to phase out the Edge model immediately following the debut of the next generation in 2023. Following her, the Lincoln Nautilus will leave the conveyor, because it is built on the basis of the first cross.

And now this story has been continued. The fact is that in the company's lineup there are practically no sedans and hatchbacks left - only crossovers (Mondeo, Focus and Fiesta are sold exclusively in Europe). And a lot of approximately the same cars with a very small difference in price are unprofitable for Ford. Therefore, it was decided to remove them from the lineup. This is not least due to the fact that the company is now in great demand for the recently revived Ford Bronco.

However, things are not so bad. The Nautilus could still be given a new face thanks to Ford reaching an agreement with Canadian union Unifor. He oversees the company's plant in Oakville and expects to repurpose it for the production of car batteries, mentioning at the same time that capacity is freed up for the production of a new Lincoln compact crossover. And Nautilus is just one of them. It is possible that it will be reborn with the EV prefix, or it may receive a completely different name.

At the moment, Ford Motor is preparing to unveil electric versions of the Explorer crossover and its twin brother, the Lincoln Aviator, which are scheduled to go into production next year. And their sales are scheduled for 2023.
