The compact two-row version of the Honda Passport has been around since 2019 and is now finally getting its first major update. It should help the car remain a fresh and competitive model as it competes with aggressive five-seat SUVs. With the explosive growth of the off-road industry in recent years, now is the perfect time to introduce a new trim level called the TrailSport.

The midsize SUV in the recently released spec has mostly gotten only cosmetic updates. However, it also boasts wider front and rear wheels (+10 millimeters). This, according to Honda, gives it better grip and improved stability in soft ground conditions. The Passport TrailSport features new 18-inch wheels, exclusive to this model, wrapped in 245/60 R18 tires with side-tread for "stronger traction."

As you'd expect from an off-road-oriented package, the cross comes standard with torque vectoring all-wheel drive. Power is provided by the same 3.5-liter V6 engine delivering 280 horsepower and 355 Nm of thrust. Recoil is transmitted to both axles via a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The new Passport variant stands out from the rest with orange TrailSport badging on the front grille and tailgate. While the interior has stitching on the seats, steering wheel and door cards in a similar shade. You'll also find TrailSport embroidery on the front seat headrests and rubber mats as standard.

Interestingly, Honda is already planning to update the Passport TrailSport in the next couple of years with a more off-road suspension. In addition, some models will receive the TrailSport specification with more aggressive bumpers and a unique grille design. Regardless of trim, all versions get LED headlights, a smart start button, an eight-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a wide range of Honda Sensing safety technologies.
