At the latest Munich Motor Show, BMW unveiled the new iX5 Hydrogen crossover powered by a hydrogen engine. The Bavarian manufacturer has announced that it will produce the model in a limited edition. But Hyundai, unlike BMW, has long been mass-assembling the hydrogen-powered Nexo, which is now sold primarily in the US and home markets. Moreover, the Korean company intends to soon carry out a planned modernization of this crossover.
The current version of the model
According to published information, the next generation Nexo will debut in 2023. Moreover, this will be the third generation of the Korean model. Hyundai has not disclosed any details about its new product yet. In particular, it is unclear whether the manufacturer will make changes to the technical part of the crossover or only rework the body and interior.

Recall that Hyundai Nexo is equipped with one electric motor, which is installed on the front axle and produces no more than 163 hp. useful power. The car is based on a platform unique to the Korean brand, which reduces the overall weight of the crossover. The electric motor enables the Nexo to accelerate to 100 km / h in 9.2 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 179 km / h.

The crossover comes with a fuel tank that can hold up to 52.2 liters of hydrogen. This capacity provides the car with a range of 800 kilometers, which is the best indicator among modern fuel cell vehicles. One of the important features of the Nexo is that it is capable of driving in extreme temperatures, including below -30 degrees. The Korean model is based on the Hyundai ix35, which is marketed today as the Tucson. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Nexo has about the same equipment as this SUV.
