In 2010, Nissan patented and introduced the term “E-Power” to the world, introducing the first generation Leaf electric vehicle. Subsequently, the name has been applied to all-electric vehicles such as the Aria, as well as Note and Kicks hybrid vehicles available on the global market. But the company recently applied for a similar trademark that offers a second version, or at least a different variation of the E-Power system, dubbed “I-Power”.

Nissan has filed an application to use the term "I-Power" in future products, according to the US Patent and Trademark Office. As follows from the published documents, the trademark registered by the company on January 5, 2021 refers to “electric drive for land vehicles”. Given the similarities with the term "E-Power" and the use of the letter "I", experts suggest that this will denote the future power plant for hybrid and all-electric vehicles of the Infiniti brand.
In addition, the management of Infinti has already promised that in the future they will follow in the footsteps of Nissan and in the near future will release several electric vehicles, as well as gas hybrids. Also, the Japanese brand's COO said in an interview that the company will share Nissan EV platforms and E-Power electric powertrain. However, the Infiniti powerplant will have a unique name and customization focused on luxury. In support of this, it became known that future electric vehicles of the brand will also use the all-wheel drive system Nissan Ariya E-4orce.
QX Inspiration
It is not clear exactly which Infiniti models will use the I-Power system. The QX60 Monograph and QX Inspiration concept cars, which debuted a few years ago, may be the first three-row cars to feature it. To find out for sure, you need to be patient and wait a bit for the official announcements of the Nissan sub-brand.
