Lexus representatives have shared information about a new electric crossover, due out in 2022. The car will be the serial incarnation of the LF-Z concept.

In terms of dimensions, the future novelty will be comparable to the latest Lexus NX. However, it will be radically different from this crossover. Moreover, the difference between them will not be limited only to the design of the body or interior. The basis for the new electric crossover will be the e-TNGA platform. Partly thanks to her, the future model will stand out for its excellent driver capabilities. To implement this idea, Lexus engineers have revised the front of the body with slim headlights and large side cutouts. Also, representatives of the Japanese brand noted that the novelty will receive a body optimized in terms of aerodynamics, which will be further developed on other electric cars.

Lexus stressed that this electric crossover could become the fastest in its class. This is indicated not only by the statements of the representatives of the brand about the aerodynamic characteristics, but also by the features of the technical part of the mentioned concept. Recall that the Lexus LF-Z was equipped with one electric motor mounted on the rear axle. Its declared maximum power reached 536 hp, due to which acceleration to 100 km / h took only 3 seconds. For comparison: in the Jaguar I-Pace, this parameter reaches four seconds. But, probably, the performance of the power units of the serial electric crossover will be reduced.

It is expected that the future novelty will borrow from the concept a battery with a capacity of 90 kW * h and a proprietary all-wheel drive Direct4 transmission, which Lexus also recently introduced. The latter provides torque vectoring for more precise cornering at high speeds.
