German carmaker Daimler decided to close the Maybach brand in 2012 due to low sales. But after a while, it was reborn as a sub-brand of Mercedes-Benz super luxury cars. Soon, on the basis of the flagship of the brand - the luxury S-Class, executive limousines began to be produced, which turned into Mercedes-Maybach.

It has long been known that many manufacturers will soon abandon traditional internal combustion engines, completely switching to electric motors. To some extent, hybrids can be considered a kind of transitional strategy. So it happened with the recently announced S-Class, which received a PHEV version of the S580 under the Maybach sub-brand. And now, when only a few days remain before the most discussed event of the automotive world - the motor show in Chengdu, photo spies "caught" the model in the parking lot in front of the exhibition hall.

The Maybach S 580 photographed in the parking lot is black, although the teasers showed a combination of dark and light shades with a contrasting roof. The length of the limousine (since it is no longer a sedan) was an impressive 5470 mm. In front of the model is a thin radiator grille with an abundance of chrome and the manufacturer's emblem on the hood. In general, the car differs little from the "younger" S480 and repeats it in almost everything. The luxurious appearance of a limousine is rather difficult to describe, it is easier to see its pictures. In the cabin, you can clearly see the traditional expensive trim parts with an abundance of leather and precious wood inserts. In the center is a large 12-inch screen for the multimedia system.

The new Mercedes-Maybach S 580 4MATIC will be equipped with a hybrid system consisting of a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine and a 48V electric motor. The unit has a maximum power of 503 horsepower and a torque of 700 Nm. The 48-volt motor provides an additional 20 hp, which together allows the limousine to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.8 seconds.
