Mazda is gradually leveling the gap with other manufacturers. The Japanese concern has already begun to systematically introduce electric models to different markets. So, sales of the new Mazda CX-30 EV electric crossover have started in China. This model, having lost the internal combustion engine, has significantly risen in price. Prices for the Mazda CX-30 EV start at 159.8 thousand yuan (1.8 million rubles).
It is noteworthy that despite the replacement of the motor and the rise in price, the Japanese model has not changed at all visually. In particular, it is still equipped with a proprietary grille with a wide metal edging, which rests against a narrow head optics with round LED lights. The front bumper retains the metal trim that runs underneath the elongated air intake.
The salon of the Japanese novelty is designed in the same style as that of the Mazda CX-30 with an internal combustion engine. Inside there are a compact touchscreen monitor, familiar from many other models of the brand, placed close to the windshield, a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and a compact climate control unit. The manufacturer even retained the analogue dashboard and small gearshift lever. True, the first one can be replaced with a digital screen for a surcharge.
The Japanese novelty is driven by one electric motor installed on the front axle. Its maximum power does not exceed 218 hp, the torque is 300 N * m. The set with the electric crossover offers a battery that provides a power reserve of 450 kilometers.
Recall that the electric Mazda CX-30 debuted in April 2021 at the Shanghai Auto Show. The car is targeted at the Chinese market. But, perhaps later, Mazda will start exporting the electric crossover to other countries.
