Spirit brand is considered a cult for many fans of Mazda cars. But the manufacturer has not used this name for the past several years. However, the Spirit brand has now returned to the market. Sales of two models with corresponding nameplates have already started in Japan.

However, a number of fans of Mazda models could be disappointed by the manufacturer's decision. Spirit nameplates used to be attached to RX sports cars equipped with rotary engines. But now the name is used for special editions of the Mazda 3 and CX-30, which recently went on sale. Both models are equipped with a 1.8-liter turbodiesel engine. When buying cars with this unit, consumers can order its special setting, which leads to the appearance of Spirit nameplates on the body.

After this revision, the engine power is increased from the current 116 hp. up to 131 hp At the same time, Mazda engineers are tweaking the throttle response and increasing the rev range at which the engine delivers maximum torque. Such changes improve vehicle acceleration from a standstill.

According to the published information, the revision of the engine is estimated at almost 30 thousand rubles, recalculated at the current exchange rate. Note that these changes became available in February this year. But then the manufacturer did not equip the cars with Spirit badges, and improvements were available with the purchase of the Mazda 3 and CX-30 with a 2-liter engine. Moreover, in this case, the engineers did not increase the power of the motor, but only improved its response. Also, along with such changes, buyers of the hatchback and crossover received adaptive cruise control and motion support systems.
