Mazda has announced a massive electrification of its entire lineup. Within the framework of this program, it is planned to develop three electric cars and five hybrid cars, which will be presented until 2025. These models will help Mazda phase out the use of internal combustion engines. It was also announced that 5 more new vehicles equipped with a plug-in hybrid will be released by the specified date. However, it is possible that these will be the same models.
Mazda is developing a new SkyActive EV Scalable Architecture platform specifically for the planned vehicles. The first electric model based on this "cart" will be released in 2025. Mazda will later release several more EVs in different sizes and body styles based on the same platform.
At the same time, it should be recalled that the Japanese concern recently returned the rotary engine, equipping it with the MX-30 crossover. This unit formed the basis for a hybrid installation. It is possible that future developments, announced by Mazda, will also be based on a rotary engine. In general, the Japanese company intends to convert all produced models to electricity by 2030, retaining several hybrid vehicles. Moreover, according to the published plans, Mazda wants to have up to a quarter of the products sold by the specified date only on electric cars.
Along with the development of the line of environmentally friendly cars, the Japanese company is working on creating its own autonomous driving technology. According to rumors, the first models with such equipment will be presented next year. The autonomous technology is expected to be implemented first on rear-wheel drive vehicles with the new 6-cylinder engines that Mazda has previously reported. It is reported that the on-board equipment of future models of the Japanese brand will be able to monitor the driver's condition. And if he is not unable to drive the car, then the electronics will automatically stop the car in a safe place and call an ambulance.
