Rumors that Nissan is working on a new sports coupe for the Z family have been around for a long time. At some point, teasers began to appear, in which almost nothing was clear, but one thing became clear - the Japanese were up to something very serious. Toyota recently unveiled the new GR86 and revived the iconic Supra. Now it's Nissan's turn.
The new sports car bears the name Nissan Z. Just Z, without any numbers. It will cost about the same as its 2003 predecessor (adjusted for inflation), and its wheelbase will be exactly the same as the 370Z. However, the power of its motor will be 400 horsepower. And most importantly, no hybrids. Just a twin-turbo V6 engine.
The main task of the car is to compete with the Toyota Supra. It will go on sale as a 2023 model. Its base price will be 40 thousand US dollars (about 3 million rubles). The sports car will still have a two-seat layout, rear-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission. The car will be built on a deeply redesigned version of the current FM platform. It will be equipped with the same wheelbase as the previous 370Z. The engine model he will receive is called VR30DDTT.
It is noteworthy that the "Japanese" will use a propeller shaft, which is made of carbon fiber, as well as a new clutch from Exedy Performance. The base version of the model will be the Z Sport, but it will not be cut at all in order to bring down the minimum price. Therefore, it will receive the same powertrain as the other Z, 12.3-inch multimedia screen, fabric seats with suede inserts, as well as a complete set of driver assistance systems.
The Z Performance will get some interior enhancements such as heated leather seats and an eight-speaker Bose stereo. She will also be offered a stiffer suspension, limited slip differential and powerful brakes. In addition to the unique wheels and red-painted brake calipers, the Performance trim also features a front splitter, rear spoiler and dual exhaust system.
