In Russia, the 2022 Nissan X-Trail of the last generation is still on sale. The new generation of the crossover will arrive in our country with a delay. So, in the US, this model, sold here as the Rogue, has been available since 2020. Despite the fact that a new generation of X-Trail will soon arrive in Russia, Nissan has deeply reworked the current generation of its rival Mazda CX-5 and Volkswagen Tiguan. Moreover, this time the manufacturer did not add, but, on the contrary, removed some of the engines and equipment. At the moment, X-Trail is sold in Russia with 2- and 2.5-liter engines, which are combined with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. Prices for the Japanese model start at 1.918 million rubles. By default, the crossover is equipped with a standard set of options such as an audio system or air conditioning. But as an option, you can purchase leather seats, an extended list of driver's assistants, multimedia with support for services from Yandex and other equipment.

Specifications

As noted earlier, the 2022 Nissan X-Trail has not yet received a new body from Russia. Judging by the official photos, the latest changes that the manufacturer made to this car did not affect its appearance and interior in any way. Instead, Nissan revised the available trim levels, removing some of them, and raising prices. Also, the manufacturer has made significant changes to the technical characteristics of its model. But the X-Trail platform remains the same.

The basis of the Japanese model is the MacPherson struts and the rear independent multi-link design. Crossover length reaches 4640 mm, width - 1820 mm, height - 1710 mm. The wheelbase is 2705 mm, the ground clearance is 210 mm.

Until recently, in Russia, the X-Trail was equipped with a 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine, which develops up to 130 hp. useful power. But the crossover has lost this unit, retaining only gasoline. The X-Trail now comes standard with a 2-liter naturally aspirated engine that produces up to 144 hp. net power and 200 N * m of torque. This unit comes complete with a variator or a 6-range manual transmission. X-Trail with such a technical part gains the first 100 km / h in 11, 1-12, 1 seconds, consuming an average of 8, 3 liters of fuel.

For a surcharge, a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter engine is also supplied with the Japanese model. Its declared maximum power is 171 hp. with a pulling moment of 233 N * m. Such a unit is combined only with a variator, consumes an average of 8, 3 liters of gasoline and provides acceleration to 100 km / h in 10, 5 seconds. With each of the above engines, you can optionally purchase an all-wheel drive transmission, which, using a multi-plate clutch, connects the rear axle.

Despite the fact that the manufacturer has significantly "shaken up" the configuration, the 2022 Nissan X-Trail is still offered with a fairly wide range of modifications. Today in Russia you can buy 7 different versions of the Japanese model at once.

XE

In the initial version, estimated at almost 1.22 million rubles, you can find only a starting motor and a manual gearbox, which transfers all traction to the front wheels. Together with them, the buyer is offered an electric power steering with a variable gear ratio, steel wheels with a diameter of 17 inches, an electronically controlled parking brake, LED DRLs and taillights. The front optics are equipped with halogen lights, and the exterior mirrors are complemented by electric drive and heating. Standard Nissan X-Trail is equipped with:

  • incomplete "spare wheel";
  • a stereo system with four speakers;
  • frontal impact warning system with the function of complete stop of the crossover;
  • speed control system;
  • multifunction steering wheel with leather sheath;
  • two-zone climate control unit;
  • 5-inch information display located on the dashboard;
  • electronically heated front seats;
  • electrically heated windshield;
  • four power windows.

By default, the Japanese model is supplied with central locking with a remote control key and electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes and assistance when starting uphill. There are 6 airbags in the basic version. The seats in the X-Trail are upholstered in fabric.

SE

The second complete set on the list is offered for a minimum of 2.3 million rubles. In addition to the base motor, a variator appears in it. Along with this version, buyers are available with 17-inch aluminum wheel rims, front fog lights, head optics with automatic activation and windscreen wipers with starting in the rain. The X-Trail in this version is equipped with a system for switching on the engine and access to the passenger compartment without a key. In addition, the front and rear bumpers are supplemented with parking sensors, and the safety complex is expanded with equipment that automatically changes the level of luminosity of the headlights. A multimedia complex with six speakers, support for services from Yandex, a parking camera and a 7-inch touch screen is responsible for the comfort in the X-Trail.

SE +

The 2022 Nissan X-Trail SE + will cost a minimum of 2.223 million rubles. In comparison with the previous configuration, the crossover acquires navigation, side and forward view cameras, wheel pressure monitoring sensors, electric heating of the second row of seats and a rear door servo with a contactless opening function.

SE Top

For this configuration, you will have to pay 114 thousand rubles. This amount includes:

  • rims with a diameter of 18 inches;
  • LED headlights;
  • headlight washers;
  • electrically adjustable sunroof (available only in this and top version);
  • roof rails (available only in this and top version);
  • assistant when descending from the mountain;
  • remote engine start from a key (available only in this and top version).

The SE Top is optionally available with combination or leather seats.

For the LE version in Russia, they ask for at least 2.406 million rubles. Interestingly, despite the increased price, the side and front view cameras disappear in this configuration. Instead, the buyer is offered leather seats by default. Also in the LE configuration, an electric drive of the driver's seat of the front optics control system and control of "dead" zones is provided.

The 2022 Nissan X-Trail in the LE + version is estimated at almost 2.5 million rubles. This amount includes front and side view cameras, an intelligent parking assistant, driver fatigue monitoring and lane departure prevention systems, and adaptive cruise control.

Safety

The X-Trail left a mixed impression on the crash test results. Moreover, what is remarkable, the Japanese model, in a sense, turned out to be better than its direct competitor Volkswagen Tiguan. The German crossover did not cope with the "moose" test, while the X-Trail showed excellent stability when maneuvering. Also, the Japanese model protects the driver and passengers well in a side impact. But in a head-on collision, the X-Trail showed a poor result: in this case, everyone inside gets serious injuries. The average rating was awarded based on the results of tests in which the probability of body rollover was investigated. At the same time, Nissan noted that they had already managed to make appropriate changes to the design of the car and built-in systems, correcting these shortcomings.

Handling and off-road performance

The updated X-Trail boasts improved noise and vibration isolation, which is more pronounced when driving on uneven surfaces. At the same time, engineers finalized the chassis of the Japanese model. The changes made have improved the steering wheel information content, which is now more rigidly planted.

All the improvements made had a positive impact on the behavior of the car. The ride inside the X-Trail has become more comfortable. In particular, the suspension is more delicate in handling bumps on the road. This sensation persists when driving onto a rocky surface. Here, the X-Trail rides easily, unnoticed by the driver, coping with the difficulties that arise. An 18% increase in the stiffness of the stabilizers is manifested in a decrease in the level of roll when cornering.

Off-road, the updated X-Trail also demonstrates a confident ride. The all-wheel drive reacts quickly enough to punching and redistributes traction to the rear wheels. On the other hand, the CVT on the new X-Trail works in the same way as on the pre-reform crossover. That is, after the modernization, an increase in the acceleration dynamics is not noticeable.

Advantages and disadvantages

Among the advantages of the updated X-Trail are:

  • improved noise and vibration isolation;
  • more comfortable running gear;
  • high-quality suspension, effective on asphalt and off-road;
  • efficient four-wheel drive;
  • rich selection of onboard equipment.

At the same time, the model is not devoid of pronounced shortcomings. First of all, it is a low level of security. The second drawback lies in the variator, which does not provide a sufficiently fast response and requires increased attention to itself. Because of this gearbox, the operating costs of the crossover often increase significantly.

Design

The Nissan X-Trail still comes with a lengthened front end that houses a compact radiator grille with a signature V-shaped metal plate. On its sides are large headlights with pointed LED DRLs, which give the car a more aggressive look. This is reinforced by the bumper protruding forward with cutouts on the sides, in which the fog lamps of a rectangular shape are built. At the stern of the crossover, large LED optics are also installed, against which the rear glazing looks compact. Along the bottom of the X-Trail is a thin strip of plastic body kit.

The interior of the Japanese model looks outdated. This impression is largely provided by the center console with a compact touchscreen monitor, around which physical control keys and small selectors are scattered scattered around. The Japanese model comes with a sloped sports steering wheel. The outdated design "dilutes" a little leather, which, in addition to the seats, is sheathed with the front panel, transmission tunnel and side doors.

The last time Nissan just revised the engine range and the complete list. Therefore, the X-Trail, which appeared on the market back in 2018, is now being sold in Russia.
