In almost three months, the German car company Opel will open pre-orders for its new generation Astra compact hatchback. It is at this point that the manufacturer will start preparing for its next big debut. It will prepare the 2022 Astra Sports Tourer family station wagon for market launch.
Opel Astra new generation
To a greater extent, the development of the new model will also be dealt with by Stellantis specialists. It is understandable that the Astra's aft will receive additional volume thanks to the longer body length, which will increase after the rear axle. In addition to providing additional space in the luggage compartment, space for rear passengers will also increase markedly. Recently, one of the independent designers presented to the public a render of what the new generation Opel Astra Sports Tourer might look like (photo: motor.es).

In the presented render, you can see only the rear of the station wagon. The fact is that in the front everything will remain intact. But behind you can see a very tilted tailgate windshield, thin lights divided into two segments, with an original interior light pattern, additional ventilation holes in the bumper, into which PTFs can also be built. Above the windshield is a small black spoiler with integrated brake light.
Inside the Astra, the station wagon will almost completely coincide with the hatchback. The main feature of the model will be an avant-garde dashboard dubbed the Pure Panel. The biggest difference between the two bodies, as mentioned, will be in the volume of the boot, both in the standard position and with the backrests folded down. The station wagon's equipment list is likely to fully match the hatchback.
The mechanical part of the model will also consist of 7 different engines. The range of the hatchback currently includes several gasoline and diesel power units, as well as hybrid units. The power of the engine line varies from 110 to 225 hp. All recoil is transmitted to the wheels, depending on the selected option, through a 6-speed manual or 8-range automatic transmission.
It's worth noting that the Opel Astra Sports Tourer will be one of the most anticipated new additions to the upcoming 2022 Geneva Motor Show. Sales of the model in Europe should begin only next summer.
