During a recent event related to the presentation of the new Opel Crossland crossover in Russia, representatives of the domestic media asked the leadership of the German company whether it is possible to return the Mokka SUV to the market. This cross is well known to motorists. Shortly before leaving, the car was one of the three most popular models in its class. The SUV could already show much better sales figures than the as yet unknown Crossland.

It turned out that the return of the SUV is seriously considered by representatives of the German brand and was even planned earlier along with the version that started in the summer of 2020 in the European car market. However, a number of technical nuances did not allow the developers to return the Opel Mokka to our country in a timely manner.

The thing is that when developing the second generation of Mokka, the specialists did not foresee the possibility of installing a unit with the ERA-GLONASS system, and also did not equip the car with a heated windshield. However, the second reason is not a determining factor, since there are many cars on the Russian car market that do not have this functionality. But the cross has heated front seats and a steering wheel.

But the absence of "ERA-GLONASS" plays an important role, because without installing this system, it will not be possible to obtain a certificate for the car. Its implementation in an already designed car requires quite serious financial costs. Opel's head office is ready to provide the necessary funds to install the system module into the existing Mokka structure. However, in response, the Russian office must guarantee SUV sales at the level of about 3 thousand cars annually.

Naturally, it is quite difficult to promise such results at the moment, so the developers will expect the restyling of the crossover, tentatively planned for 2023. Most likely, at this time, the updated Opel Mokka will return to the Russian car market.
