At the Chongqing Auto Show in July, Mitsubishi and GAC unveiled the new Airtrek electric crossover. This model is more reminiscent of a minivan in body shape, but the developers attributed it to the class of SUVs. Now the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has published a document revealing the technical characteristics of the production version of the Airtrek. At the same time, it became known that sales of new items in China will start in the second half of 2021.

Mitsubishi Airtrek prototype

Recall that the Mitsubishi Airtrek is based on the platform from the GAC Aion V - one of the most popular and technologically advanced electric crossovers on the Chinese market. In this regard, it is not surprising that both models turned out to be similar in size. The length of the new Mitsubishi Airtrek is 4630 mm, width - 1920 mm, height - 1728 mm. The wheelbase reaches 2830 mm. Airtrek is equipped with only one electric motor mounted on the front axle. The maximum power of this motor is 184 hp. The characteristics of the battery that Airtrek received has not yet been disclosed. Accordingly, the power reserve of the Japanese novelty is also unknown.

Serial version of the model

Visually, the electric crossover is more similar to other Mitsubishi models than to its prototype GAC Aion V. The Japanese novelty is equipped with a large decorative metal insert that covers the area where the radiator grill should be. Branded X-shaped plates run along it. The front bumper is also covered with a wide metal insert, which provides thin cutouts for the air intake.

Airtrek received head optics, non-standard for Mitsubishi. It is presented in the form of three relatively thin blocks, each of which houses LED lights. At the stern of the electric crossover there are boomerang-shaped lanterns.
