At the beginning of this year, Mitsubishi Motors introduced a new generation of the Outlander crossover. This car has received worldwide recognition as one of the highest quality and most reliable crossovers in its segment. And although the new generation has not yet hit all markets where it was planned, the manufacturer is already preparing an update for the model. According to the latest information, right now the company's engineers are developing the most productive version of the crossover, which they intend to present in 2022.

New standard Mitsubishi Outlander

According to internal company documents, the Japanese automaker plans to release a rechargeable version of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. At the moment, there is no information about the technical features of the hybrid installation located on board the new generation of the crossover. However, back in 2018, it was announced that Mitsubishi's PHEV would be capable of traveling between 80 and 100 km in all-electric mode. But as you know, the current hybrid installation of the company is capable of providing only 54 km. And if the manufacturer reaches at least 80 km, then this will be a big step forward. Also, some sources indicate that the company may develop a more complex and sophisticated four-wheel drive system, equipped with bi-directional power distribution.

The chief executive officer of the Japanese company Takao Kato has already announced that the manufacturer will withdraw from the part of the market where it is present. In particular, today Mitsubishi products are supplied to 32 countries around the world, but by 2023 this figure will decline 17. This, according to a company representative, will optimize the brand's lineup and prepare more opportunities for the development of a new PHEV system. It is not clear yet whether Russia will be among the countries that will be officially deprived of Mitsubishi cars.

The last thing I would like to say is that, according to company representatives, the Japanese manufacturer will bring Outlander PHEV to the country's domestic market in the third quarter of 2021, while this version of the popular crossover will start to arrive in other countries only in next year.
