Kia Ceed appeared back in 2019 and since then has been sold on the Russian market without any significant changes. The hatchback has been designed by the European office in Rüsselheim since the first generation. It was created by the famous specialist Peter Schreier, who had previously worked on the Audi TT and Volkswagen New Beetle. It is curious that earlier the car was called “cee’d”. It was an abbreviation that meant "European Community and Design", which clearly hinted that the model was created with an eye to the European markets, including Russia. The competition in this segment is very high. Here the Ford Focus and Mazda 3 are still in the lead. Therefore, the Korean manufacturer began to offer a wide range of equipment in all Kia Sid 2022 trim levels.

Specifications

With the change of generations, the 2022 Kia Sid moved to the K2 platform and appeared in a new body, which can be seen in the photo. The technical characteristics, as well as the configuration and prices of the model were revised again. Now the automaker offers two engines: a traditional naturally aspirated 1.6-liter with 128 hp. and a 1.4-liter turbo engine with a capacity of 140 hp. There are three transmissions: a five-speed "mechanics", a classic "automatic", as well as a robotic gearbox. Front-wheel drive in all cases.

The suspension uses a typical solution for this car segment. MacPherson struts are installed in the front, and a torsion beam in the back. The Multilink multi-link rear suspension appears only in the maximum configuration Premuim + with a turbo engine and a robotic transmission. As in the case of "mechanics" and "automatic", the acceleration time from zero to one hundred kilometers is 11, 5 seconds. With a turbo engine and a "robot", this figure improves to 9, 2 seconds.

The average fuel consumption in the mixed mode is 7.3 liters, and when equipped with a "robot" and a turbo engine - 6, 1 liters. In all cases, the car is capable of consuming both AI-95 and AI-92 gasoline. The dimensions of the hatchback are as follows: length, width and height are 4310/1800/1457 mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 2650 mm. The ground clearance, regardless of the type of suspension, reaches 150 mm.

Comfort

The minimum equipment at the time of writing is estimated at 1,434,900 rubles. Here, the steering wheel and gearshift knob are already finished in leather. In addition, the car is supplied with:

The Luxe grade of the 2022 Kia Ceed is estimated at 1,534,900 rubles. In it, the model received 16-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, fog lights. In the cabin, an armrest with cup holders appears on the second row of seats, and the seats themselves, as before, fold in a 60:40 ratio. Added separate dual-zone climate control, rear view camera, parking sensors, multimedia with a five-inch screen and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Automatic transmission is installed here by default. For a surcharge, you can purchase the "Warm Options" package, which includes heated washer nozzles, mirrors, steering wheel, front seats, and an additional electric heater for the passenger compartment.

Prestige

The Prestige package is estimated at 1 609 900 rubles. It differs in that it has electric rear-view mirrors with LED turn signals and LED taillights. In addition, a combination of eco-leather and fabric trim is already used in the interior. The interior also has a mirror with auto-dimming function and paddle shifters for manual gear shifting. There is also a rain sensor, keyless entry with an autostart button and a “Take me home” function, when the car does not turn off the headlights for a certain period of time so that the owner does not stumble in the dark, getting to the front door of the house.

Premuim

Starting with the Premium trim level, the model is offered with a 1.4-liter turbo engine and a robotic transmission. Also, the car received a different suspension. The Premium uses the Multilink multi-link system. In addition, this configuration replaces the 16-inch wheels with 17-inch wheels. The instrument cluster received a 4.2-inch screen, and the multimedia system with an eight-inch monitor supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A net for things is installed in the trunk, and the driver and front passenger receive electrically adjustable lumbar support. Of the security systems, there are blind spot monitoring and side collision warning when reversing out of the parking lot.

Premuim +

The most advanced configuration, for which they already ask for 1,944,900 rubles. It is offered only with a 1.4-liter turbo engine and a robotic transmission. It added an electric sunroof, intelligent cruise control, anti-collision system, lane control, traffic sign recognition, driver attention tracking, high beam assistant, parking assist and front sensors. A panel for wireless charging of a smartphone has also appeared. The multimedia system received a large 10, 25-inch color screen, which has built-in navigation with traffic jams. The instrument panel is digital and has a diagonal of 12.3 inches.

Safety

Kia Ceed 2022 was tested on the EuroNCAP system and received 4 points out of 5, and with optional pedestrian and cyclist recognition systems, all five stars. But, be that as it may, do not rely only on them, since at high speeds they will only soften the blow, and not completely avoid it.

Handling and off-road performance

In all trim levels, the model, like any state employee, has a torsion beam. In the Premium + version with a turbo engine and a "robot", it has been replaced by a multi-link suspension, which allows more precise cornering at high speeds. However, even with a beam, the car has good handling. He has a rather sensitive steering wheel, on the "mechanics" of the shift is clear, and the gears themselves are short-travel. On the "machine" and "robot" there is no characteristic thoughtfulness. The electronics work out the switching clearly and without delays. When it comes to off-road performance, the answer is simple. Still, this is not a crossover, so even on a country road, you need to drive carefully, since the ground clearance is only 150 mm. This is enough for driving around the city and on the highway, but it is better not to meddle on the off-road.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of the Korean hatchback include a fairly rich list of basic equipment, a large trunk of 395 liters, simple and reliable engines, a package of warm options with heating of any surfaces, inexpensive maintenance and spare parts, as well as low fuel consumption. The disadvantages include the absence of a multi-link suspension in most configurations, a small ground clearance and not very good sound insulation.

Design

Getting to know any car starts with the keys. In particular, the changes affected their form. We immediately get a nice keychain, just like the sporty Kia Stinger, with side buttons. It looks very stylish and unusual. Although the Ceed is based on a new platform, its wheelbase has not changed. And the car looks like it's not a fresh generation, but another restyling. It is clearly noticeable that the radiator grill has been updated. The headlights and rear optics also took on a new form, becoming LED in the older trim levels.

Inside, we are greeted by the same familiar Rio, but with a different arrangement of controls and a different panel design. This does not at all create the feeling that you have been saved on you, just unification and nothing more. The buttons are comfortable, the steering wheel has a pleasant grip and does not slip in your hands. In general, the design is quite strict, restrained and without frills. At the same time, it is quite spacious inside the car. It can easily accommodate five people.

Sales start

Kia Ceed after a slight adjustment of prices and trim levels is already available for purchase from dealers of the brand. You won't have to wait a long time for the ordered modification, since the car is being assembled in Russia.
