The Chengdu Motor Show is in full swing and will last another week, but information about the Munich Motor Show is slowly leaking onto the Web. Previously it was held in Frankfurt, but now it has moved. The event will take place in early September. It debuts the new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Kia Sportage.
The appearance of the popular Korean crossover has already been revealed earlier. The PHEV variation is unlikely to be much different from the standard SUV, except for the presence of an additional cover on the body. A port for charging batteries will be hidden under it. It is already known that the hybrid will receive a bundle of a 1.6-liter turbo engine and a 13.8 kW / h lithium-ion battery. The power of the electric motor will be 91 hp. It is assumed that there will be only one gasoline engine.
The appearance of the new crossover bears little resemblance to the current generation that is sold in Russia. Already at first glance, it becomes noticeable that the SUV has sharp aggressive lines in the style of the Kia K5. Apparently, in the near future the entire lineup of the Korean manufacturer will receive the same design. You can clearly see how the head optics, which will be LED, smoothly flow into the A-pillars, while the window line gradually narrows.
Exactly the same thing happens from behind. The lines leading to the trunk lid begin to widen towards the headlights. A spoiler with a built-in brake light repeater is also clearly visible here, and a new Kia emblem is installed below. The taillights will also receive LED "stuffing". On the side, the crossover, although it differs from the current generation, is closer to the SUVs of the sister brand Hyundai in the shape of the doors and the stern window.
In addition to the PHEV modification, the manufacturer will still offer traditional versions of the car with engines of 1, 6 and 2 liters. In the first case, it will be a gasoline unit, in the second, a diesel one. Both engines will be complemented by a turbocharger.
