The compact JAC S3 crossover from China can be equipped in Russia and Kazakhstan with one of two engine options, and not an uncontested engine, as is now happening in the automaker's home market. Such data were shared by experts close to the Russian division of the brand, which is currently certifying the new model.
The initiator of the cross certification was the Kazakh car plant "SaryarkaAvtoProm". It is reported that two models at once apply for an OTTS document, which gives the right to produce and sell new cars in the territory of the Russian Federation - JAC S3 with powerplant options from 1 to 1.5 liters of volume, as well as a similar SUV equipped with engines for 1, 5-3 liters.
Experts have no questions about the first type of engine. Apparently, we are talking about a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated unit, the output of which is 116 horsepower. It is in this design that the cross is available at the home car market. However, if we proceed from the documents submitted to the OTTS, then another version of the SUV may be offered in the EAEU countries. It is possible that there is no mystery in this case, and the manufacturer simply decided to keep the previous 1.6-liter engine, the output of which is 109 "horses".
Earlier on the Web, some details about the future Chinese SUV JAC S3 were revealed. Then it became known that the car would be equipped with a manual transmission or a variator at the buyer's choice. But the leading drive in any version will be exclusively front. The JAC office does not give official comments on this matter. If the SUV makes its debut on the territory of the Russian Federation, it can become one of the most affordable SUV representatives, because in the Chinese car market the price tag of a car is equivalent to 0.8-1 million rubles.
