Renault has announced that a brand new electric crossover will debut at the Paris Motor Show next year, taking its place one step above the Megane E-Tech Electric in the lineup. It is known that this car in the future will replace the Kadjar, the platform-based Nissan Qashqai.

Actual Kadjar

It is reported that the French novelty will be based on the same CMF-EV platform, on the basis of which Ariya, which debuted last year, was created. The length of the electric crossover from Renault can reach 4700 mm, and the size of the wheelbase will be increased to 2780 mm. Note that for Kadjar these figures are respectively 4489 mm and 2646 mm. But even if the French novelty retains similar dimensions, it will have more free space inside due to a different layout.

Renault representatives said that the electric crossover will be equipped with a 60 kWh battery. However, they did not rule out that the novelty will also receive an 87 kWh battery. The power reserve of the electric crossover will be at least 499 kilometers. Moreover, Renault is preparing a completely new, thinner battery for this model, which will help increase the volume of internal space.

Probably, the crossover will acquire a choice of 215- and 239-horsepower electric motors, which are equipped with a soplatform Nissan Ariya. But unlike the latter, the French novelty will not receive all-wheel drive. It will only be available for the "charged" version from Alpine. Inside, new items will appear 12, 3-inch digital instrument panel and a touch screen 12 inches.

Renault 5 concept

The published render shows that stylistically the future crossover will be similar to the Renault 5 concept (photo: autoexpress.co.uk). The French concern intends to use this approach to the development of all future electric cars.
