The Cadillac XT5 is a mid-size crossover produced by the General Motors Cadillac brand. All models of this concern belong to luxury cars and this SUV is no exception. The cross was first shown by the manufacturer in 2015 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It was released to replace the SRX SUV. At the moment, the Cadillac XT5 is available in Russia both in the original version and in the restyled version, which appeared in 2020. A newer version of the cross is offered to domestic motorists in two trim levels, costing 3, 49-3, 59 million rubles. The list of available engines for the 2021 Cadillac XT5 includes a single 2.0-liter turbo engine. The list of the main competitors of the cross can include the American model Jeep Grand Cherokee, as well as the German BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.
Options and prices
Despite the fact that after the restyling the model did not receive a new body, a number of changes in the exterior and interior of the car can still be noticed. It must also be said that the update led to a revision of the trim levels and specifications of the 2021 Cadillac XT5. The price of the cross has also slightly changed. Specifications
After the restyling, the motor range for the American luxury cross-country is represented by the only available 2-liter gasoline engine with a turbine, producing up to 200 "horses" of power and 350 N * m of torque. It is additionally equipped with a stop / start system, and also complies with Euro-6 standards. Together with this engine, there is a 9-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive transmission. The manufacturer's declared consumption when driving in mixed mode is 9 liters of gasoline, and the maximum possible speed is 210 km / h. The crossover can accelerate to 100 km / h in 9.9 seconds.
The suspension of the 2021 Cadillac XT5 is presented with a fairly comfortable and multifunctional system. In the basic version, it is endowed with sporting capabilities, and for the more expensive version, pneumatic adjustment is put. The front suspension is based on MacPherson struts, while the rear has a multi-link design. Additionally, the car received anti-roll bars. The electronic parking brake and disc brakes make up the braking system of the American SUV.

The controllability of the American model is very high. On straight lines and in gentle arcs of turns, the crossover confidently keeps in its lane, does not require any additional steering, and also does not show buildup or serious body rolls. The braking system of the car allows you to stop the car in time without any sudden braking, even at high speed. The disadvantage of the model can be called not too informative steering wheel and "smeared" zero zone, especially in the Premium Luxury modification.
There is no need to talk about off-road cross-country ability. Nevertheless, this model is a typical urban SUV, although the ground clearance of 200 mm allows driving on high curbs, as well as easily overcome bumps on the road. But in off-road conditions, it is better not to test the car. Its maximum is a primer when going out into the countryside or a summer cottage in good dry weather.
Maintenance costs
Despite the fact that the 2021 Cadillac XT5 is a premium car, due to the fact that the manufacturer has limited the power of its power unit, the cost of maintaining the car will be approximately the same as for its main competitors. The size of the transport tax for the year will be 10-11 thousand rubles, as well as the purchase of a car insurance policy, which will cost the owner of the cross about the same money.
Depending on the distance traveled daily, the cost of maintaining the American model may differ, although on average, about 60 thousand rubles will have to be spent for refueling during the year. Dynamic performance and fuel consumption
The dynamics of the premium cross declared by the manufacturer is average. The American model will be able to accelerate to a speed of 100 km / h in 9, 9 seconds. In practice, by squeezing the gas pedal to the floor, the car becomes very playful and clearly has more power than the one declared by the developer in the documents. Its dynamic abilities are more than enough for driving in urban conditions, as well as when driving on the highway.
Consumption will also not surprise any of the owners of classic SUVs, since most modern crosses show fuel consumption at the level of 8-10 liters per 100 km of distance. So for Cadillac, the manufacturer announced a consumption of about 9 liters of gasoline.
Design
If we talk about the appearance of the restyled 2021 Cadillac XT5, then it has no fundamental differences from the previous generation model. In the front part of the body, one can note the installation of a new, more powerful radiator grille, which received small metal inserts, as well as a changed general concept for the design of the headlights. The bumper of the crossover has remained unchanged and still contains a large air intake cutout in the middle and two small cuts on the sides, where fog lights are installed, which are a visual continuation of the DRL.
The side section is largely unchanged and stands out thanks to the domed roof shape and large wheel arch cutouts. The feed also received a minimum of innovations. These include the trim of the bumper with a larger molding, as well as a different design of the lights. Around the entire perimeter of the body, the manufacturer installed an additional plastic body kit, which acts as protection against damage.
The interior trim, as for the previous version, is made of genuine leather, high-quality plastic and other decorative elements that are designed to emphasize the status of the car owner. The center console of the crossover stands out thanks to the installation of a slightly “recessed” digital display inside, as well as touch controls for the climate system unit.
The car's tunnel received a stylish miniature transmission control selector, as well as a washer with which the driver can adjust the services and multimedia system. The steering wheel is very comfortable. On its spokes are buttons, with which the driver can configure various built-in assistants. Car seats are its undoubted advantage over competitors. Besides the fact that they are very comfortable and have various adjustment options, the rear row is also adjustable and can slide along the rails, depending on the needs of the owner of the car.
Sales start
The new Cadillac XT5 arrived at dealerships in Russia in 2020. The car is assembled at a car factory in the USA, from where it is supplied to the domestic market.
