Geely has made an official presentation of the new generation Emgrand UP sedan. True, the manufacturer, in fact, declassified only the exterior and interior of the car, slightly revealing the details of the on-board equipment. Also, Geely announced the motor range. However, prices for the Chinese sedan are still unknown. It is expected that it will cost about 700 thousand rubles in recalculation. Thus, it will seriously compete for the Skoda Octavia.
Geely representatives have previously stated that the new Emgrand UP is built on the same platform that Coolray crossover is based on. Under the hood of the Chinese sedan, only one naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter engine is installed. Its declared maximum power is 114 hp. This unit can only be combined with a continuously variable variator. Among the important features affecting the Emgrand UP's driving performance is its new body, which now has a drag coefficient of 0.27. This figure is more typical for sports cars than for budget sedans.
Depending on the equipment type, the Emgrand UP is equipped with a 10.5-inch instrument panel, a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a sports multifunction steering wheel. During the latest modernization, the manufacturer has significantly increased the concentration of soft trim in the cabin: it occupies about 85% of the interior space. In the top versions of Emgrand UP, you can also find leather seats.
The externally presented model is quite different from its predecessor. Emgrand UP received a new grille, styled in Volvo style, and large head optics with LED lights. A pronounced spoiler appeared at the rear of the sedan. It is reported that sales of the new Geely Emgrand UP will start in the home market in late July or early August.
